Save the Planet - how it works...
As we all know, fashion hurts our planet, and affects us and the environment in a negative way, however that is not the only industry that causes harm to our planet. Although there has been a higher level of involvement in making many products more “green” and ecological, there are still a lot of companies and textile manufacturers that are wasting a lot of resources, such as water and electricity, while developing their products.
Thanks to many people spreading awareness about how these industries affect our shared home, be it on social media or other ways of communication, there are many companies and manufacturers that are trying to minimise their energy and water waste, a lot of them also introducing eco-friendly fabrics.
Now, let me explain how these textiles are made:
Eco-friendly fabrics are made from recycled plastic, for example the plastic bottles most of us probably use on a day-to-day basis. These are sorted, then broken down and processed into small granules, which are later melted and made into thin threads, from which fabric can be made. These fabrics are equally as comfortable as traditionally made textile, but there are also many advantages to them. They are more resistant to scratches from your pets, they keep their beauty longer, and most importantly: they help our planet.
Because these fabrics are made from recycled plastic, they are produced with little to no negative effect on our wonderful planet. The production process eliminates the waste of water and electricity that the traditional fabric development causes, which overall reduces the negative effect the fashion and textile industry have on our environment and planet.
So, although I understand how fabric made from recycled plastic sounds odd, let me assure you: It is as comfortable, if not more, as traditional fabric. It is still the textile that we all know and love - comfortable, nice to the touch and cozy - with the benefit of being good for our planet’s environment.
Look out for these types of fabrics as even one purchase helps out a great deal! Together, let's look after our collective home by choosing the right fabrics. There are a lot of options in our shop - look through and order a sample to check the quality!
